A wisdom tooth is a third molar tooth found in the back, or mandible’s second maxillary bone. Wisdom teeth are most often found in people over 17 years old, although they can appear around age 12. They are called ‘wisdom teeth’ because they’re usually discovered later in life as opposed to when we were teenagers. People going through their teens typically have little room for new teeth; as we get older, more space becomes available and our mouth is more prepared for this addition. Wisdom teeth grow in sometime between 17-25 years of age and will cause problems if they don’t remove them before then.
